Welcome

Hello world and welcome to our family website.  The Nguyen Vinh Family, of Vietnamese descent, is a rather large family group comprising of several generations with an intriguing history .  We are also truly a global family in which members are uniquely situated across the world, reaching areas of North Amercia, Europe, and Asia.

Overcoming the Communication Barrier

With a global presence, communication had become an issue in times when costly long distance telephone calls or traditional mail were the only options.  These immense international distances created frustrating communication barriers for not only our family, but for everyone.  Enter the 21st century where the Internet has become a tool in which one of the several benefits is the ease and process of communication.  This website has allowed us to keep in touch with one another, regardless of where we are in the world.

Developing an Idea

The idea of a simple family website was originally envisioned as far back as the mid 90s when the Internet phenomenon was in early development.  The website was to be called One World, a website that displayed messages from family members covering what they found interesting in their locale.  The idea never gained any real progress and was eventually abandoned.  Fast forward to 2005, when a website that was initially only meant to display photos from a wedding quickly evolved into a fully featured family website.  With the collaboration of the family, we turned the family website into an actuality.  We don’t know exactly what the future holds in terms of family communication, but we can be sure that technological advances will virtually bring us even closer together.  However, we must be careful and not rely on this tool as the sole form of contact.  Factors such as feeling, emotion, affection, environment, atmosphere cannot be replicated in the physical sense.  In view of this, we have learned that it is important to meet face to face, and in this case what family reunions are all about.

NguyenVinh.com is hosted by 1&1 Web Hosting Services, powered by Wordpress, and themed by Darren Hoyt’s Mimbo theme.  The style of the website is that of a blog, where new stories (or posts) are displayed on the front page and sorted by the latest date.  Along with the news blog are individual pages where you can discover our fascinating family history, explore our extensive family tree, view our family photos, and much more.

To the Future and Beyond
